Drank 2 Liters of Water Before Eating

I am drinking so much water before I eat anything for several reasons.  One reason is that water makes me feel better, gives me energy and makes me more confident.  It also cools my body down, which gives me better coordination.  Drinking my water early in the day also helps me to sleep at night because I do not have to wake to go to the bathroom, I have already consumed the majority of my water.  The other reason, is that according to Dr. Batmanghelidj, in his book “Your Body’s Many Cries for Water”, many ailments are simply your body telling you that it is thirsty.  He lists a few:

  1.  Heartburn
  2. Rheumatoid arthritis
  3. Back pain
  4. Headaches
  5. Asthma
  6. Walking leg pain  (Which I have if I do not drink my water)
  7. allergies

Please read Dr. Batmanghelidj’s book.  To quote The European, London, UK.  “The Water Cure has a convincing logic but turns much of current medical practice on its head.”

Another Good Day

Today I went to the local community center with my son.  While he was taking his lessons, I would stand up out of my wheelchair and walk down the hallway.  I would walk to the end of the hallway, turn, then come back.  The hallways were wide enough to let people pass, but the hallways were not crowded and had a railing on either side incase I had to hold for balance.

practice, practice, practice.

I have lost count of the number of steps I take.  I simply practice, practice, practice.  Maybe 25 or 26 steps…up and back, up and back, up and back.

Practice, practice, practice.   I need balance and stamina.

Today was a good day.

CR Diet….Calorie Reduction

I am going to try a slight change to my diet.  This is NOT for weight loss.  One day I will eat what I am eating now, fish, vegetables, fruit (mainly berries), a little bit of cold brown rice, nuts, etc.

The next day, I will eat only TWO salads, no dressing, no fruit, no fish, no rice.  Only two plates of vegetables.  I will continue to drink lots of water, but I have read some positive research on a CR (Calorie Reduction) diet.  So I will try this.

Plus, my wife complains that I eat too much.

Incorporating My Mind, All Day Long

All day long, I repeated to myself, either in my mind or out loud, not even under my breath…”I can walk, I can walk…I can walk…”. I had a good walking day.

  1.  When my ride came to get me this morning, I just walked around my friend’s  car and got in.
  2. Work went well.  I am able to do much more work at my desk than I could just a few months ago.
  3. I found some excellent subconscious message music that I will play for sleep/healing tonight.      Good night.

Body and Mind Connection

Today, I tried to walk (with a lot of assistance) in my back yard.  It was very difficult because the ground is not even and the grass  was wet and slippery.

It was very good practice to have to think about every step.  Which areas are more even than others?  Which areas have shorter grass?  I wore sneakers but maybe bare feet would assist the mind-body connection more?  I bought a pair of knee pads and, to help my mind-body connection, I will crawl on the floor of my house looking for paper/little stuff  to pick up.

I will continue with the YOGA and juggle learning because both exercises help to engage the mind and both are recommended in the book by Bob Cafaro :  “When the Music Stopped”.  My Battle and Victory Against MS.

I will incorporate my mind in my movement from now on.

My Breakfast and My Dinner

What I think that I have heard, from research on the internet and from speaking with my wife, both in Japanese, is that black beans will help to repair Myelin.  So for breakfast and for dinner, I have eaten cold brown rice (cold to not raise blood sugar) and re-fried black beans (from a can).

Lets see if this helps my healing diet and exercise.  Tomorrow I go water walking.

One Small Step…Left My Wheelchair at Home

Last night, the family and I went out to dinner.  We left the wheelchair at home on purpose.  I walked with a cane that a loved one bought for me last week.

Progress Is Progress.  Some parts were not difficult.  Our seat was near the men’s room.  It was not difficult to walk, with the cane, the short distance to the men’s room and then back to our table.

Other parts were more difficult.  Our seat was in the back of the restaurant.  The distance from the front door to our table was a challenge and my walking speed was very slow.  But progress is progress.

I am going to eat breakfast and then practice walking.

P.S.  I just talked to a friend of mine, Toni, the woman who was diagnosed with Lymphoma, did not do any Chemo and instead , followed the advice in Pure, White and Deadly; How Sugar Is Killing Us and What We Can Do to Stop Itby John Ludkin.  When I told her that my walking was very slow last night, she said “hey, Alex, slow and steady wins the race. Slow and steady…”  “You get two gold stars for walking, even with your cane, in a public place.  Excellent!”

Good Day–I Practiced Walking Alot

My daughter and I played a card game with many rounds.  In between each round, I would practice my walking.  My daughter said “you know, Dad, for the first few steps of each round, you do look like normal, like you are just walking.”

Practice.

I am going to go practice walking.
